I have been struggling for 6 months to use photos I took of a one-armed crab I found on the beach. He went nuclear-stinky and I had to biohazard his carcass, but I managed to get a few photos before the end. The 'eyes' are ultra-heated sodium lamps from a machine at my work. The tiny spheres are actual sea monkey (brine shrimp) eggs, and everything else is hand-painted.

This concept is really something. The eyes give an eerie feeling, but they look doubly curious.

I was attempting to make them look a bit "clinical" or "detached"; eerie works too, though

I think you understand exactly what I was trying to do with this piece.

The aquarium effect required no changes by me - that's the way it really photographed.
