Goremother Grimpot by skulpturro Goremother Grimpot by skulpturro
Dedicated to grimpoteuthis spp., and all of the wonderfully wacky species discovered on the ocean floor in recent years.

Image Google grimpoteuthis spp. if you don't believe me :D

I have posted an image of the weird props used in this one, to help anyone struggling with insomnia or in need of a very brief chuckle.

Somehow, knowing the unassuming objects that formed this masterpiece make it all the more fascinating.

Don't be silly. I am, and will always be, more an art appreciator than an artist.
I'm OK with that, but manipulating images can wear on a person, and make them dream to really create.
I'm working on that.
Good to see you Arne, hope you and your lovely are doing well and planning to populate the Netherlands with little geniuses.

I Just Love His/Hers Face.

And I Have To Agree With *wildlifehoodoo, "I love the fact that it looks like it is in a crate...underwater."

Wonderful Work. & :+fav:

You're the only one to specifically mention the face...the specimen I used had been pecked at until both eyes were gone. Many hours of digital facial reconstruction later.....

I intended the crate to appear behind Ms. G, but what the heck, I like your notion too.

Thanks again

No movie/theater character reaches the amazing pathos as the eye of this cephalopod.

Nice indeed.

What an elegant comment!! I noticed you were located in Italy. Is English your first or second language?

Thankyou so much for the :+fav: and the nice words :)

Actually, my third language, since I live in Italy but I'm croatian.

As for the fav, it is much deserved.

Exquisitely executed, profoundly affecting. Beyond the superlative composition, she looks a little sad (or do the dads look after the cephalopipps..I can't remember). Seeing the pictographs my immediate thought was "oh no! they're on the menu!"

I altered the pupil (that's a purchased 30mm glass gecko eye) to read neutral, but sad works too :)

I shot dozens of photos over several days with this specimen until she begged to go back into her alcohol tank ;)

More things to come for her, after everyone's palate has been cleansed with something different from my 'toolbox'.

Your critique, as always, was exquisitely written and contributes to the mythos of the piece, methinks

I look forward to the day when I have the Skulpturro Encyclonomicon elegantly displayed on some gothic lectern overlooking Moncton from here at Hotel Dieu. When are we going to write it?
